Expressive Arts Workshop: The Art of Emotions (In-person) Location: Art Room

This workshop will allow participants to explore their inner creativity without having to be an artist. We will focus on expression through art and creativity. The creative process throughout the workshop will help the participants experience art through the lens of emotions.

Dates: Four Tuesdays, 3/21, 3/28, 4/4 and 4/11 in person at the clubhouse, from 12:00 to 1:30 pm

3/21/23- Week 1:  How do I feel today?

This free-painting activity will allow participants to learn to explore emotions using different colors. This is a free painting activity where participants can transfer whatever they are feeling in their bodies to canvas.

3/28/23-Week 2:  Watercolor Cards

Learn to make your own watercolor cards using affirmations or other words or phrases.

4/4/23-Week 3:  Mask Activity

This activity will allow participants to discuss how they view themselves vs. how they would like others to view them. The group will create two masks. The “I am mask” and the “I would like to be seen” mask.  There will be room for discussion at the end.

4/11/23- Week 4:  Safe Place

Choose a spot where you feel safe - the ocean, a garden, etc. - and paint that space on canvas using acrylic paints.

Instructor Vanessa Araya is certified in Creative Arts Therapy and is an MSW candidate and Gilda's Club Westchester Social Work Intern. Registration includes all four classes.
